The skills may be the most complicated thing about Death Trash. It’s also the perfect time to try out some different character builds and get ready for the best one for you when the main game rolls around. Still, it’ll give you a good indicator of what you need to do when the game finally is out. Unfortunately, you can’t carry any progress from the demo across to the main game. You can download this and get a taste for the game before the Death Trash release date. The game currently has a demo out on Steam and Xbox. However, there’s likely to be some sort of balancing that makes it almost as difficult once again. Having multiple players will make the game easier to a degree. This is particularly important for tough combat situations. This feature will make it easy to explore the world and progress the story with someone else. Co-opĭeath Trash has co-op, and it will be live at launch. For example, one ability might blow up a person’s head, while the other makes them more amenable to giving you information. These will most likely function as abilities to aid players in and out of combat. These quests send you to nearby areas, providing a contextual reason to visit everywhere.Īt the time of writing, it hasn’t been possible to try out the game’s co-op or high-tech features like implants. By chatting to people, you’ll unlock new quests. You can spend hours just chatting away to every NPC on a part of the map, only to move on and do it all over again later on in a new area. They all help build the story of what has happened here, making it feel more real. There are loads of NPCs to talk to in the game. Even though the game may appear easy, against two or three foes, you’ll most likely die. A combat roll helps players get out of sticky situations, but sometimes there’s no avoiding death. Players use a combination of melee and ranged attacks to take down foes, and it all feels very well polished and satisfying. Then, within the smaller open-world pockets, there’s much more to do.Ĭombat can be avoided with stealth, but it’s got a good crunch to it if you try it. The map system works like Fallout 1 and 2, in that there’s an overworld where you see your character move quickly. Players control a character through small open-world pockets within a wider map. The gameplay of Death Trash is as meaty as its world. There are dozens of other stories to be told, but these are the core ones to care about. Players will uncover exactly what in due course. Finally, the mutants around the local area are getting all uppity about something. It’s also a key goal to uncover what happened to this world. There’s the reason they were kicked out of their society for one. Over the course of the game, players will explore the world and uncover a few truths. It’s like some sort of vision of hell, but the people living there don’t all hate it. There are strange creatures like the Fleshkraken living in obscure places, and even giant men in lakes of blood. An even called the bloodening has left the world filled with meat that’s growing all over the surface. It has a very different kind of post-apocalypse to explore. The story of Death Trash is a bit subjective. At the time of writing though, we have no idea. It’s possible that Switch and PlayStation versions will follow in time. There doesn’t seem to be a reason for hitting these platforms first other than it was easier than making the game for every platform all at once. The game is so tantalizingly close that you can smell the putrid meat wafting off of it. It’s been built from the ground up for these platforms over six years. The game is coming to both PC and both Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
